Is it resume or resumé?
Should it be spelt resume, resumé, or résumé?
There is often confusion regarding the correct spelling of the American term for CV. Some argue that the noun “résumé” (a person’s list of achievements) has become so ingrained in the English language that the accents are no longer required. However, leaving them out does run the risk of the word being confused for the verb “resume” (to begin again or continue after a pause or interruption).
In reality, you can spell the word with or without accents and most people will understand what you mean given the context. Indeed, the spelling varies depending on which dictionary or style guide you pick up. To be safe, it is recommended that you include accents on both e’s - résumé.
Collins English Dictionary lists the spelling as either résumé or resumé, with a preference for the former.
The Macmillan Dictionary agrees, stating the correct spelling as résumé.
